MEDICAL INJECTABLES
  • Dysport® • Daxxify®Xeomin®Botox®

Botulinum toxin is a substance that can be injected into the body to help relax muscles. It comes from a bacteria called clostridium botulinum. When used in small amounts and carefully administered by a trained medical professional, it can be used to reduce wrinkles and fine lines on the face by temporarily relaxing the muscles.

Botox® was first approved by the FDA for medical indications rather than cosmetic purposes. In 1989, the FDA approved it for strabismus and blepharospasm. It is used today in many medical specialties included, muscular and neurological disorder, bladder dysfunction, vocal cord disfunction, and even gastrointestinal disorders.

In 2002, the FDA officially approve Botox® approved its use for cosmetic purposes (YAY!) Namely, it is use to help prevent movement within the muscle ultimately preventing or softening existing wrinkles. Most common areas treated around the face include the elevens, crow’s feet, and forehead. More advanced treatments options include smoothing out a crinkling upper lip, treating a gummy smile, resolving profuse sweating, slimming your jawline, and smoothening out a dimpled chin (peau d'orange). I will help create a plan that will meet your aesthetic goals with my aesthetic philosophy of less but better . We will set a timeline as to what to expect and I will follow up with you 2 weeks after. Treatments usually last up to 2.5 -3 months. I choose the neurotoxin according to your previous treatments, muscles and goals for longevity of treatment.

  • Dermal fillers are injectable substances used to restore volume loss, smooth lines and wrinkles, and enhance facial contours. Dermal fillers provide a lifting effect to the face resulting in a refreshed, youthful natural look. At Sitka Aesthetic treatments plans are curated by area as different fillers treat different areas of the face and often times need a multimodal approach for effective, lasting results. Anesthesia services is also offered to make your experience painless and comfortable. An initial consultation and treatment can take up to an hour, and subsequent treatments may be recommended. Pricing is determined based on treatment area rather than individual syringes. My signature approach involves a multimodal technique ensuring lasting, natural results aligned with your aesthetic goals.

  • Sculptra®Skin that feels like you again. This is a medical injectable—what I was taught is fertilizer for the face. The medication has been around for two decades, but became available for cosmetic use in 2009. The active ingredient in Sculptra® is poly-L-lactic acid, which stimulates collagen production over a longer period of time. Unlike dermal fillers, the results of Sculptra® are gradual and non-immediate leading to a subtle and natural-looking improvement in facial volume over time, clinical studies demonstrates that Sculptra® treatments peak effect 3 months after initial injection. The effects of Sculptra® can be longer lasting compared to dermal fillers and multiple treatments may be recommended depending on the desired aesthetic goals.

  • PRF Gel is an autologous substance derived from your own blood. It used in both medical and aesthetic procedures. PRF Gel differs from platelet rich plasma as it contains a higher concentration of healing and growth factors.

PRF Gel is used in a variety of settings, but it’s a more natural treatment —utilizing your own body’s growth and healing factors to promoting collagen and elastin production. Similar to dermal filler, this treatment is offered by area; undereye, full face, hair restoration, stretch marks, and multiple session may be recommended depending on aesthetic goals.

  • Kybella® is an FDA approved non-surgical option for improving contour of the neck and jawline by reducing excess fat under the chin. The active ingredient is deoxycholic acid—a naturally occurring substance in the body that helps breakdown and absorb dietary fat. When Kybella is injected into the submental area it destroys fat cells reducing submental fullness. The treatment time is about an hour, but the injections alone only take 15-20 minutes. Healing can take up to two months.

  • Temporomandibular Joint (TMJ) Disorder

The TMJ is the joint that connects your jawbone to your skull—which is crucial for chewing, talking, and yawning. Oftentimes when the TMJ is chronically overactive it can lead to pain, ear discomfort, headache, TMJ discomfort—teeth grinding, tension, locking of the jaw, clicking or popping sounds. There are many initial treatments offered for TMD; self-care, physical therapy depending on area of pain, bite splints. After those non-pharmacologic interventions have been exhausted, Botox® injections can be used to alleviate jaw tension and pain associated with TMJ disorder. Many Sitka Aesthetic clients report high levels of satisfaction with this treatment.

  • Hyperhidrosis is a medical condition characterized by excessive sweating that goes beyond what is necessary to regulate body temperature. While sweating is a normal and essential bodily function, individuals with hyperhidrosis experience uncontrollable and often unpredictable sweating, which can significantly impact their daily lives. Botox injections can be used to help temporarily block the nerves that stimulate sweater resulting in a effective treatment for decreasing sweating. There are different areas of the body that can be treated for hyperhidrosis—dose is dependent on surface area.

  • As aesthetic treatments popularize—the need to correction also increases. Overtime HA fillers can migrate and displace to unwanted areas causing asymmetry, mild discomfort, and even swelling. This can occur due to injection technique with inexperienced injectors, overfilling areas, and inappropriate placement of filler. There are occassions when client no longer desire their HA fillers and request for dissolving.

Dissolving HA fillers is a cosmetic procedure that involves using an enzyme called hyaluronidase—which naturally occurs in the body. Hylauronidase breaks down and dissolves previously injected dermal fillers. I have extensive experience with ultrasound and have had highly successful reversal and dissolving of HA fillers for clients who were dissatisfied from previous injections not performed by me. I uphold a strict poicy where I will not inject new fillers on poorly placed filler and will often recommend clients to dissolve prior to new injections.

  • Skin Pen®

Microneedling is the use of mechanism stimulation of a device (SkinPen®) with medical grade, fine, steri e needles. The needles create a controlled micro-injury puncturing through to the dermis. The body’s natural response to these micro-injuries initiate treatment that uses the body's own healing process of inflammation, proliferation, and remodeling to stimulate collagen and elastin—the proteins responsible for maintaining the skin’s firmness and elasticity. • Red light therapy (RLT), also known as low-level laser therapy (LLLT) or photobiomodulation (PBM). It is a therapeutic technique that uses low-level red or near-infrared light to stimulate cellular function. The idea behind red light therapy is that specific wavelengths of light can penetrate the skin and be absorbed by cells, leading to various biological effects.

Cellular Effects—the absorbed light energy is believed to stimulate cellular process, including increased production of adenosine triphosphate (ATP)—essential for cellular energy potentially influencing mitochondrial function and enhancing bloodflow. Ultimately some studies suggest RLT may be benefits for acne, psoriasis, and wrinkles. Currently, there is some scientific evidence supporting the potential benefits of RLT, but more research is nee edto fuly understand it’s mechanism and establish a standardized treatment protocol. Before starting therapy clients should consult with a healthcare professional if they have an underlying health condition or are taking medications that can potentially make them susceptible to light injury.
